关于“this/these” 和“that/those” 的近指和远指不同如下
【1】 this/these指代离说话人较近的“名词” 即“人或事物”，this指代单数名词，these指代复数名词。
This is my mother.这个是我母亲。 These are my books.这类是我的书。
【2】that/those指代离说话人较远的“名词” 即“人或事物”，that指代单数名词，those指代复数名词。
That is my father. 那个是我父亲 Those are my pens.那些是我的钢笔。
不同总结：假如你父亲和你母亲都在你身边，你母亲离你的距离是1米，你父亲离你的距离是3米。假如你向你的朋友介绍你的爸爸妈妈。你就应该说，This is my mother and that is my father. 母亲离你较近，你用指示代词this, 父亲离你较远，就用指示代词that。同理these,those使用方法一样，不同是复数形式。
备注：this/that还用于电话用语，This 指代自己，that指代他们。
